Baltimore Gas and Electric Company Headquarters Named Outstanding Corporate Building of the Year by Building Owners and Managers Association of Greater Baltimore

Award recognizes downtown facility for environmental impact, community initiatives, emergency preparedness and other key components of successful building management

BALTIMORE, Nov. 30, 2010 – Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) today, announced that its downtown Baltimore headquarters has received the Building Owners and Managers Association’s (BOMA) Corporate Building of the Year award. This is the highest recognition of The Office Building of the Year (TOBY) awards which were presented in late October. BGE’s corporate headquarters is located at 110 W. Fayette Street.

“BGE is proud to receive this award on behalf of our property management team which works day in and day out to ensure all of our facilities are properly run,” said Thomas W. Valenti, senior vice president of logistics management for BGE. “BGE is committed to being a responsible corporate citizen and this recognition – which also included an award for community impact – is an acknowledgement of those efforts.”

A thorough review of BGE’s headquarters was conducted and included inspections of the main lobby, elevators, restrooms, stairwells, janitorial room, mechanical rooms, work spaces and other areas. Some of the factors considered were energy conservation, environmental stewardship, lighting, accessibility, safety and security, aesthetic appeal, flooring, signage and housekeeping.

Entrants are scored following site visits and assessments as well as interviews with property managers. Scores are audited by an impartial certified public accounting firm and then judged against established standards of property management excellence.
