BALTIMORE, June 23, 2011 – Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) today announced that it has received the “Corporate Partnership” Award from the Fuel Fund of Maryland, in recognition of the utility’s 30 years of support of the Fuel Fund since its inception in 1981. The award also acknowledges the significant monetary contribution of more than $30 million in support from Constellation Energy and BGE employees and customers. Since 1981, the Fuel Fund of Maryland has been keeping families across the state safe, warm, cool and their homes well lit, by helping them pay their energy bills.
“BGE is committed to helping its limited income customers meet their energy needs by providing financial support and Constellation Energy and BGE employees log an average of more than 42,000 employee volunteer hours annually,” said Jeannette M. Mills, senior vice president and chief customer officer for BGE. “In collaboration with several organizations throughout Central Maryland, including the Fuel Fund of Maryland, grants are made available to non-profit organizations from the BGE Community Assistance Fund that provide immediate assistance and promote longer-term self reliance. The ‘Corporate Partnership’ Award from the Fuel Fund of Maryland affirms BGE’s comprehensive approach to supporting the communities it serves and is a recognition of the efforts of our employees and customers. It is on their behalf that I humbly accept this award.”
