President Obama joined journalists, dignitaries and countless celebrities April 27 for the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
The event, which spotlights media outlets that cover the White House, was held at the Washington Hilton. During his remarks, President Obama took a comedic approach and poked fun at some of the attendees. He also jokingly addressed rapper Jay-Z and Beyonce’s controversial trip to Cuba. “It’s unbelievable, he said.”I’ve got 99 problems but now Jay-Z is one,” referencing one of the rapper’s hit songs.
At the end of his speech, he turned serious and discussed the important role the media plays in American society during the times of crisis like the explosion in West, Texas and the Boston Marathon bombings.
