Baltimore Gas and Electric Company Launches Emergency Response and Safety Grant Opportunities
New grant program enhances BGE’s long-standing community support and focuses on organizations throughout BGE’s service area that are committed to emergency preparedness and response
Company encourages qualified 501c3 organizations that provide emergency preparedness, response or recovery services to attend this week’s webinar for more information and to apply for a grant online
BALTIMORE, Sept. 10, 2012 – Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) <http://www.bge.com> today announced that as part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing the communities throughout its service area, the company has launched a new grant program designed especially for emergency response and safety organizations. Beginning on Sept. 13, 2012, 501c3 organizations that provide emergency services support throughout BGE’s service area - either preparedness or response and recovery- are encouraged to apply for a single grant of up to $10,000.
“BGE has a long-standing commitment to enhancing the communities in which we live and work, whether it’s through philanthropic giving or employee volunteer opportunities, and this new grant program represents yet another means for extending that commitment to our customers,” said Stephen J. Woerner, senior vice president and chief operating officer, BGE. “Importantly, this grant provides BGE with an opportunity to give back to our emergency response partners, be it in the non-profit sector or at the local or state level, who day in and day out, are poised to respond in our times of need.”
To assist with the application process, BGE will host a webinar on Thursday, Sept. 13 and invites all 501c3 organizations which provide emergency services support throughout BGE’s service area to attend and find out more information about grant opportunities and the application process itself. Some examples of qualifying organizations include, but are not limited to American Red Cross, emergency relief organizations and first responders such as police and firefighters, including volunteer fire departments. Multiple grant opportunities are available and grants will be considered for new and existing programs that fall within the grant description guidelines, as well as requests for funding that clearly demonstrates improvement in response efforts to urgent and immediate needs of the community. Organizations may submit their application for a grant by going to bge.com <http://www.bge.com/ourcommitments/community/pages/charitable-contributions.aspx> between Sept. 13, 2012, and Oct. 31, 2012. Grants will be awarded in December 2012. For more information on the webinar, visit bge.com <http://www.bge.com/ourcommitments/community/pages/charitable-contributions.aspx> .
