BALTIMORE, Nov. 13, 2012 – Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) <http://www.bge.com/Pages/default.aspx>  today announced that it is working together with The Associated: Jewish Community Federation in Baltimore in an effort to support, strengthen and promote energy efficiency throughout the communities in which it serves.  BGE’s $25,000 sponsorship supports the organization’s sustainability programs, including system-wide savings from energy efficient projects, sustainable construction and building practices, waste reduction and agency and organizational engagement in the community.

Since its founding nearly 200 years ago, BGE has played an integral role in working with Maryland communities to address economic development, public safety, civic issues and other initiatives that help enhance our neighborhoods. Through the use of shareholder dollars, BGE supports programs that deliver measurable and sustainable impact in areas of energy efficiency and assistance, education, the environment, economic and community development, emergency response and safety.

BGE’s corporate citizenship aligns with that of its parent company, Exelon Corporation. As part of Exelon’s merger in March 2012, Exelon and its subsidiaries have committed to maintain charitable giving of an average of $7 million per year in Maryland, including BGE’s service area, for the next 10 years. BGE’s partnership with The Associated: Jewish Community Federation in Baltimore fulfills part of that commitment.
