Tax-Free Weekend to Save on New ENERGY STAR

BGE customers can combine savings from tax-free shopping this

Presidents Day weekend with up to $150 in energy-efficiency rebates

from the BGE Smart Energy Savers Program®

 

 

BALTIMORE, Feb. 12, 2013 – Baltimore Gas and Electric Company (BGE) <http://www.bge.com/Pages/default.aspx>  encourages customers who are in the market for new, energy-efficient appliances and lighting products to combine the rebates regularly offered by BGE’s Smart Energy Savers Program<http://www.bgesmartenergy.com>  with savings offered as part of the upcoming Shop Maryland Energy weekend <http://energy.maryland.gov/events.html> , Feb. 16–18, 2013. During Shop Maryland Energy weekend, the following ENERGY STAR products are tax-free and also rebated by the BGE Smart Energy Savers Program: <http://www.bgesmartenergy.com/>  

·         Air conditioners 
·         Clothes washers 
·         Standard size refrigerators 
·         Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) 
·         Dehumidifiers 
·         Furnaces 
·         Heat pumps 
“The tax-free Shop Maryland Energy weekend, combined with rebates from BGE’s Smart Energy Savers Program <http://www.bgesmartenergy.com>  and Presidents Day sale pricing that may be available from some retailers, provides BGE customers with a tremendous opportunity to save money and increase energy efficiency in their homes by purchasing ENERGY STAR-certified lighting and appliances,” said Ruth C. Kiselewich, BGE director of demand management programs.  For those who are unable to make use of the tax-free Shop Maryland Energy weekend, BGE’s Smart Energy Savers Program <http://www.bgesmartenergy.com>  rebates are available throughout the year to help customers make smart choices by purchasing energy-efficient appliances and other energy-saving products.” 

Customers can receive the following rebates and discounts through the BGE’s Smart Energy Savers Program <http://www.bgesmartenergy.com> : 

·         $350 rebate on the purchase of an ENERGY STAR-certified electric heat pump water heater. 
·         $100-$150 rebate on the purchase of an ENERGY STAR-certified refrigerator. 
·         $50-$100 rebate on the purchase of an ENERGY STAR-certified clothes washer. 
·         $75 rebate on the purchase of an ENERGY STAR-certified freezer. 
·         $25 rebate on the purchase of an ENERGY STAR-certified room air conditioning unit. 
·         $25 rebate on the purchase of an ENERGY STAR-certified dehumidifier. 
·         Discounts up to $2.25 per CFL bulb and $10 off light-emitting diode (LEDs) for select ENERGY STAR-certified lighting products.  
·         Up to $1,150 in rebates for ENERGY STAR-certified heating and cooling equipment and services.
