Comptroller Franchot Honors Schaefer Through Volunteer Effort at the Maryland Food Bank

WHAT: Comptroller Franchot is honoring the memory of former Mayor, Governor and Comptroller William Donald Schaefer by volunteering his time to the Maryland Food Bank on the anniversary of what would have been Schaefer’s ninetieth birthday. Throughout his political career, Schaefer consistently showed his dedication to feeding Maryland’s hungry by supporting the Maryland Food Bank.

The Maryland Food Bank was founded in 1979 to coordinate the procurement and distribution of food donations from manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and government agencies to organizations providing free food to the state's hungry.
