The Washington Redskins capped off their 2013 preseason with a perfect 4-0 record, beating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 30-12 in the fourth and final exhibition game on Aug. 29 in Tampa Bay, Fla.

Most of the ‘Skins starters didn’t play in the meaningless game as head coach Mike Shanahan chose to keep them rested and healthy for the regular season scheduled to start next week.

Redskins’ star quarterback Robert Griffin III, who hasn’t played all preseason as he recovers from surgery performed on his right knee, did workout for about 30 minutes before the game, however. He said via Twitter on Thursday that he has been cleared by his doctor to play in the ‘Skins season opener on Sept. 9; the Monday night game will be broadcast on national TV by ESPN.

Washington’s fourth string quarterback Pat White played the entire game, completing 13-of-22 passes for 181 yards. The former West Virginia University quarterback made some impressive plays, including a 66-yard completion to receiver Dezmon Briscoe, and a 7-yard touchdown run. But he also tossed an interception.

‘Skins backup running back Evan Royster carried the load for the game, rushing 11 times for 59 yards and a touchdown. Rookie running back Chris Thompson also made an impact on special teams, returning a punt 69 yards for a touchdown.
