CARDIN TO HOLD TOWN HALL WITH NASA GODDARD EMPLOYEES

ON THE IMPACT OF THE FEDERAL BUDGET

How is Sequestration Really Impacting Federal Workers and Contractors?

How do we find a smarter, more comprehensive solution to our budget challenges?

On Friday, April 12 at 11:15AM, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD), a member of the Senate Finance Committee and representative for nearly 300,000 federal civilian and military workers, will hold a town hall with employees at theNational Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Goddard Space Flight Center in GreenbeltMaryland.  NASA Goddard Space Flight Center is one Maryland’s 60 non-military federal facilities. Following passage of the FY13 Continuing Resolution that maintained most of the sequestration cuts and the Senate’s FY14 Budget, Senator Cardin will provide an update on how these fiscal blueprints impacts federal workers in the region.  After brief remarks, the majority of the session will be dedicated to Q&A from NASA employees and contractors.

Senator Cardin believes that federal workers should not solely bear the brunt of America’s economic burden.  They are public servants providing critical services to the American people. He is working with his colleagues to set real, thoughtful priorities for spending and revenue that will restore strategic investments in job-creating, economy boosting programs while also addressing our long-term deficit in a responsible and adult manner.
