Wednesday Media Call will Detail Bill and Discuss New Study that Shows S-ESOPs

 

directly and indirectly support 1.4 million jobs and nearly 2% of GDP

 

On Wednesday, April 17, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD), a member of the Senate Finance Committee, will host a conference call to announce the introduction of his bill, the Promotion and Expansion of Private Employee Ownership Act. The legislation is aimed at helping more Americans gain retirement savings and security through private employee ownership. Also on the call will be Alex Brill, fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, who will discuss the results of a new study,Macroeconomic Impact of S ESOPs on the U.S. Economy. The report outlines the economic benefits of S corporations with employee stock ownership plans (S ESOPs) including that they directly and indirectly supported 1.4 million jobs and 1.7% of GDP in 2010.
 
A survey released in March by the Employee Benefit Research Institute found that 28% of Americans have no confidence they will have enough money to retire comfortably—the highest level in the study's 23-year history.
