A Jan. 6 preliminary hearing date has been set for a woman accused of torching a building in Prince George’s County.

According to authorities, Louise Blount is a fire starter. That is unusual because the overwhelming majority of people who start fires are men, experts said.

Blount, 59, was arrested Dec.13. She is charged with first degree arson, second degree arson and first degree malicious burning in connection with a fire that damaged an apartment building in the 2100 block of Alice Avenue in Oxon Hill on Dec. 7. She faces a maximum of 55 years in prison if convicted.

Blount is currently held on $100,000 at the Prince George’s County jail in Upper Marlboro.

According to court records, Blount, has no fixed address.
