The Second Episcopal District honored Living Legacies during its annual Founder’s Day Conference, Feb. 14, in Raleigh, N.C.

The brainchild of new SED Bishop William P. DeVeaux and his wife, Episcopal Supervisor Pam DeVeaux, offered the opportunity to honor the past and celebrate the present while embracing the future, as indicated by its theme.

Among the 20 honorees from the Second Episcopal District were Presiding Elder Louis Charles Harvey of the Potomac District from the Washington Conference and Jean A. Matthews, the person he chose for his lay representative. Matthews, a retired government employee who lives in Glenarden, has been married to Carroll Matthews for 59 years and they have four children, 2 grandsons and one great grandson.
