Senior forward Andre Jackson scored a game-high 15 points to help lift the Bowie State University Bulldogs men’s basketball team to a 67-57 home win over the Elizabeth City State University(ECSU) Vikings in the regular season finale on Feb. 20 in Bowie, Md.
The win snapped a two-game losing skid by Bowie State and pushed its overall record to 16-12, 9-7 against the Central Interscholastic Athletic Association (CIAA). The Bulldogs sit in third place in the CIAA North division standings entering the CIAA Tournament.

The Bulldogs dominated the Vikings right from the start, using stingy defense and effective shooting to leap out to a 28-3 lead within the first 15 minutes of the game. Bowie State ended up leading, 34-15, at halftime.

But ECSU turned the tables on Bowie State in the second half, starting out on a 18-2 scoring run to close in on the Bulldogs’ lead. The Vikings came within three points of the Bulldogs, but wouldn’t get any closer as Bowie State held its ground and found just enough offense to clinch the victory.

Three other Bowie State players joined Jackson with double-digit points, including senior guard Justin Beck with 13 points. Elizabeth City forward Matthew McIntosh, a Bowie, Md. native, led his team with 14 points.
