Bowie State Bulldogs graduate quarterback Matthew Goggans continued his touchdown passing clinic this season, tossing four touchdown passes in a 45-17 win over Central Interscholastic Athletic Association (CIAA) foe Livingstone College on Sept. 26 in Bowie, Md. The win lifted Bowie State’s record to 3-1 overall this season, 1-0 against the CIAA.
The Bulldogs’ offense was simply too much for Livingstone to handle. Goggans came out launching touchdown bombs from the very start, scoring on a 47-yard pass to sophomore receiver Kendrick Pollock in the first quarter. Goggans and Pollock also hooked up on a 56-yard touchdown later in the game, but not before Bowie State had already built a massive lead with touchdown passes to receivers Gary Cropper and Jordan Garrison. Graduate running back Kenda Jefferson also scored a couple of touchdown runs for Bowie State.
Goggans finished 19 of 43 for 345 yards and four touchdowns; he now has 13 touchdown passes to just one interception through the first four games of the season. Pollock led all receivers with four catches for 145 yards, and Jefferson had 52 yards on 12 carries.
Next – Bowie State will travel to Charlotte, N.C., on Oct. 3 to take on another CIAA opponent, Johnson C. Smith.
