The Bowie State Bulldogs quickly returned to the winner’s circle after collecting its first loss of the season last week. Bowie State responded with a 40-22 win over Virginia Union University(VUU) on Oct. 21 in Bowie, Md.
The win improved Bowie State’s overall record to 7-1, 4-1 against the Central Interscholastic Athletic Association (CIAA), and maintained its national ranking among the top 25 programs in Division 2 college football.
Bowie State quickly took control of the game, leaping out to a 27-0 lead before VUU could answer with its own points. Redshirt senior running back Robert Chesson scored the first two touchdowns for the Bulldogs, one by ground and another through the air on a catch from junior quarterback Amir Hall. From that point forward it was easy going for Bowie State as it cruised to yet another lopsided victory on the season.
Chesson finished with 293 total yards offensively, including 167 rushing yards and four total touchdowns, two runs and and two catches for scores. Hall completed 25 of 44 pass attempts for 386 yards and three touchdown passes.
