Britain Windrush Day

People arriving from the Caribbean are welcomed by RAF officials from the Colonial Office after the ex-troopship HMT Empire Windrush docks, at Tilbury, England, June 22, 1948. Seventy-five years ago, a ship landed at Tilbury Dock near London, carrying more than 800 passengers from the Caribbean to new lives in Britain. The arrival of the Empire Windrush in 1948 has become a symbol of the post-war migration that transformed the U.K. and its culture. (PA via AP, File)
