AP File Photo-In this Dec. 10, 2002, file photo Arkansas native Lawrence Hamilton sits at a piano in the choral room at Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Ark. His sister, Evelyn Hall, said Friday, April 4, 2014 that Hamilton died on Thursday after complications from surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. Hamilton, a Foreman native, Ark., starred in Broadway hits including “Play On,” ”Jelly’s Last Jam” and “Ragtime.” He was 59.
