Soul diva Chaka Khan is using her legendary voice to raise money for at-risk children.

On March 17, the singer will host “An Intimate Evening with Chaka Khan,” a live concert at Agape International Church in Los Angeles, Calif. Fans can also log on to and watch the live stream of the concert for $9.99.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Carl Anderson Scholarship Fund and the Chaka Khan Foundation. The group’s combined goal is to award over 50 scholarships.

“Today’s technology puts me in touch with friends and fans all over the world like never before,” Khan said in a statement, according to BlackAmericaWeb. “I look forward to reaching out internationally while performing simultaneously in an intimate atmosphere for local Southern California fans.”

“Most importantly,” she added, “the money we raise will help provide scholarships for deserving students. I hope everyone joins in, either at the concert in person at Agape or via the live stream to help us raise money for kids.”

During the days leading up to the concert, fans can also participate in an online silent auction. The featured items include Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers tickets, a private dinner with Khan and autographed artwork, among many other items.

Late singer/actor Carl Anderson launched his scholarship fund shortly before his death in 2004. According to, the fund was originally designed for students involved in the arts, but now assists students in all majors. Since its inception, it has awarded over $96,000 in scholarships.

The Chaka Khan organization educates, inspires and empowers at-risk children in the Los Angeles area and also provides support for children with autism.
