Our presidential neighbors watched the fireworks on the National Mall and also greeted over thousands of troops for a special Independence Day party and barbecue.
Hip-hop rapper Rick Ross and EZ Street hosted a mansion pool party at Laylinn Manor in Upper Marlboro last Saturday to cool off in the heat. Later that night, Rick Ross performed at Ibiza Nightclub where football player Vernon Davis and local artist DC Don Juan were also seen partying.
DTLR recently sponsored a One Day Free Football Camp hosted at the Prince George’s Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, Md. The camp gave kids the chance to learn new training techniques from NFL superstars Arizona Cardinals’ Darnell Dockett and Minnesota Vikings’ Visanthe Shiancoe.
Another reality television show is hitting the District with TLC’s “Georgetown Cupcake,” a new show that follows the lives of owners and sisters Sophie LaMontagne and Katherine Kallinis. It premieres on July 16 at 10 p.m. Also, “The Real Housewives of D.C.” has a bit of color thanks to real estate agent and philanthropist Stacie Turner. The next installment of the “Housewives” reality series premieres on Bravo on Aug. 5 at 9 p.m.
Author Helena Andrews celebrated the release of her memoir Bitch is the New Black last week at Room & Board near U Street. A who’s who of D.C. socialites and writers were in attendance including the Washington Post’s Amy Artesinger (the writer who broke the Salahi story), Kate Michael, former Miss District of Columbia 2006 and Jamishia Smith of TheYBF.com. Young Hill staffers also came out in abundance including Angela Rye, senior advisor and Counsel to the House Committee on Homeland Security.
Usually football players don’t mix in D.C. politics, but hometown football star Vernon Davis has made his pick for the District’s next mayor and even hosted a fundraiser for Vincent Gray.
