Darnell Self, entrepreneur and wealth mentor, has been instrumental in changing the legacies of hundreds of thousands of families across the nation. He has coached and guided 12 people to becoming millionaires and over 40 people to earning six-figure incomes. Self knows the formula that will lead to success in business and in life and is willing to share it with others. In a world where so many are focused on themselves, it’s refreshing to meet someone who is consistently selfless. His journey to success has been one filled with obstacles, growth and triumphs. “I remember having days I couldn’t afford to put gas in the car and we faced foreclosure. It’s the worst feeling in the world when you don’t know how you’re going to feed your kids and take care of your wife – that agony was worse than all the excruciating physical duress I suffered due to injuries,” Self reflects.

During some of his lowest points, he leaned on his faith in God, prayer, and immersed himself in the teachings of legendary personal and business development philosopher Jim Rohn and many others. “The winds of opportunity blow the same for all of us. The path is going to have bumps and bruises along the way, but you must utilize the ‘winds’ to help you move forward. You must stay encouraged and allow the trials and tribulations to become your fuel. I always knew I would win,” says Self.

Darnell Self’s life is a true testament to the power of vision and personal development. His unwavering commitment, relentless work ethic, and passion for change led him to the lifestyle of time freedom and financial independence that he and his family enjoy today. Coming from humble beginnings, he always envisioned being able to take care of the ones he loved. “Investment in people is the best investment. To be honest, it’s not about the money itself, but what you can do when money is no longer an issue. It’s a different feeling in the morning when you can wake up with no worries about how you’re going to pay your bills but instead thinking about who you can bless because all your bills have been paid,” he says.

Self has been able to retire his grandmother, secure R&B singer Howard Hewitt for his 15th wedding anniversary and travel frequently with his children all across the country.

“Unexpected surprises, spoiling my family and friends – I live to make people happy,” he exclaims. He believes when finances are removed as a concern, one is free to become a blessing to others.

Self and his business partner, Mike Humes, have created a nonprofit that allows them to give back through their time and monetary support. Fertile Ground (www.afertileground.com) has assisted in the Haiti Relief, provided clothes to thousands of people who are less fortunate, fed villages in the Dominican Republic, and provided Christmas gifts to children from underprivileged schools in the DC Metro area. They have also supported the building of a girl’s orphanage in Guatemala and a host of other notable deeds. Self has personally adopted families and spoken at universities and several schools throughout Prince George’s county.
Self’s business leadership has been hailed by the National Black Chamber of Commerce (NBCC), the largest minority-business entity in the world. The NBCC recognized Self with its National Entrepreneur of the Year award. A sought after speaker, he has appeared on television networks such as FOX, BET, TruTV and TBN. Additionally, Self has been highlighted in business publications such as Success From Home and Black Enterprise magazine.

Self has a powerful testimony of faith, perseverance, and vision. “I’m a survivor, not easily broken,” Self said. He has a personal mission of setting people free from the poverty mindset to one of abundance in their thinking and finances. “I want to enable people to see themselves having more, dreaming bigger, doing everything it takes to achieve success and alter their lives for the better.”
He has been noted as an expert in entrepreneurism, wealth building, and personal development.
