The third annual Emancipation Day DC celebration will kick off April 16. The event, which commemorates the abolition of slavery, will feature a parade, workshops at the John H. Wilson Building, fireworks and more.
The event will also include performances by Doug E. Fresh, Black Alley Band, Arrested Development, Talib Kweli and Raheem DeVaughn at Freedom Plaza.
