The Howard Bison men’s basketball team advanced to a 7-5 overall record after knocking out University of Maryland, Baltimore County, 103-93, on Dec. 19 in Washington, D.C. The win ended a two-game losing skid by Howard, who fell to Purdue on Dec. 9 and Radford on Dec. 12.
Howard outscored UMBC, 42-35, in the first half, then exploded offensively after halftime with 61 points to hold off UMBC from its comeback attempt.
The Bison were led by junior guard James Daniel III with a game-high 28 points; Howard also had four other players with double-digits in points, including junior guard Damon Collins with 22 and junior forward Tyler Stone with 18.
Next – Howard will face Central Michigan on the road on Dec. 22, followed by another road game against Columbia on Dec. 28.
