The life and accomplishments of civil rights activist Lawrence Guyot will be celebrated at a memorial service scheduled for 10 a.m. Dec. 15 at Goodwill Baptist Church at 1862 Kalorama Rd. N.W. in Washington D.C.

The service is expected to conclude by 1 p.m., but the commemoration will continue at the African American Civil War Memorial at 1925 Vermont Ave., N.W.

Refreshments will be served and friends will be treated to a viewing of news and film clips featuring Guyot. The event is expected to end at 3 p.m.

Guyot’s family asks that anyone with a photograph and/or story to share please send it to 507 U St., N.W. D.C. 20001.

Donations also may be sent to the same address.

Guyot died at home on Thanksgiving or early the next morning after a long illness.
