First Lady Michelle Obama teamed with the Washington Nationals on July 5 during their game against the Chicago Cubs to honor the nation’s military families.

The team deemed the day “Joining Forces with the Washington Nationals-Honoring Our Military Families,” in support of Obama and Dr. Jill Biden’s initiative that seeks to mobilize all sectors of society in support of military families.

The First Lady was escorted to home plate by children from military families prior to the game, and one of the kids from the bunch threw the first pitch. Shortly thereafter, she joined the families as fans recognized them during a third inning tribute.
