MSU Bears

The Morgan State University Bears men’s basketball team lost their fifth straight game, falling to the North Carolina Central University Eagles, 73-59, on Feb. 20 at Hill Field House in Baltimore.
It was the eighth loss in the last 10 games for the Bears, who fell to a 5-20 overall record, and 3-9 against the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).

Morgan State got out to a slow start and had to play catch-up the rest of the way, but failed to cut into the double-digit cushion that North Carolina Central built. The Eagles led, 41-25, at halftime and although the Bears outscored them 34-32 in the second half, it wasn’t enough to overcome the Eagles’ lead.

Morgan State senior forward Cedric Blossom led all scorers with 20 points, but he was the only players for the Bears to post double digits in points.

Dante Holmes, a Baltimore native, scored 18 points, along with nine rebounds and six assists, to lead four North Carolina Central players who scored double digits.

Next: the Bears will face North Carolina A&T on Feb. 22, and then Norfolk State University on Feb. 24.
