The Morgan State University Bears men’s basketball team saw eight different players score in a collective effort to top the Delaware State University Hornets, 63-58, on Jan. 9 at the Hill Field House in Baltimore.
It was the first win for the Bears since Nov. 23, and snapped a nine-game losing streak.

The Bears victory came against a Hornets squad facing even worse struggles; Delaware State has only won one game this season and possesses a 1-14 record.

Morgan State took advantage of their opponent’s woes, jumping out to an early lead over Delaware State; the Bears led 32-20 at halftime. The Hornets mounted a comeback in the second half and cut the Bears’ lead to just four points with less than a minute left in the game, but Morgan State held on for the victory.

Junior forward Kyle Thomas led the Bears in scoring with 14 points; junior guard Andre Horne Jr. followed up with 13 points.

Next: Morgan State will face University of Maryland-Eastern Shore on Jan. 11, followed by a Jan. 16 matchup against Florida A&M University.
