It’s time to say it: any hope of the Baltimore Orioles making the postseason appears to be over.

Given Baltimore’s remaining schedule, it’s a safe bet to assume the Orioles will not make the American League playoffs. The Orioles have less than 30 games remaining on their schedule, 16 against quality opponents looking to lock in their own playoff berth. The Orioles also face another three-game series against the Kansas City Royals—arguably the best team in the league, so that’s three losses that you can probably chalk up for Baltimore.

Other remaining opponents include the AL East-leading Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees, who are in line to claim an AL Wild Card slot. Baltimore will also face the Tampa Rays and Washington Nationals, both teams still fighting to make the playoffs.

It may hurt for O’s fans to say, but the team’s playoff chances aren’t just looking bad: they look dead.
