Racism isn’t limited to the United States or Black people for that matter. The death of George Floyd in 2020, an unarmed Black man who was killed after a White police officer, Derek Chauvin, kneeled on his neck for almost 10 minutes, sparked outrage around the world. After being convicted in his murder, on Dec. 15, Chauvin pled guilty to violating Floyd’s civil rights, which ultimately led to Floyd’s death. Even in the middle of a global pandemic, people of all walks of life saw that there was an equally deadly public safety hazard that demanded our attention.
