The Spring 2012 verdict is in. Sporty and sportswear are here to stay, but in a much more understated way thanks to sorbet colors and louche, low-key silhouettes. Don’t discard your floral fantasies just yet, this season the trend continues with a high-octane dose of flower power, plus an equally amped-up version of color blocking.

Proenza Schouler is one of the designers that decided to pump up the volume with heavy floral patterns and bold colors. Altuzarra’s take on spring fashions included a white leather panel dress with Hawaiian accent utilizing colorful flowers.

Designer Alexander Wang took a different approach in his interpretation of spring fashion. Instead of bold colorful pallets Alexander decided to go with a “biker chic” theme using a floral inspiration but keeping the colors toned down using beautiful navy, royal & turquoise blues with white accents.

When Thakoon does floral prints, expect the unexpected, like a vivid red and blue Bollywood reference. This season is all about being creative and confident. Don’t shy away from wearing bold colors. Instead embrace the opportunity to wear that green pant with a yellow blouse and an orange handbag.

Fashion is all about experimenting, taking risks and mixing and matching things together and finding your own voice. Find what works for your body type and your personal style, and then maximize your look by doing a little color blocking. That could be carrying a bold colored handbag, or a vibrant stiletto versus the “old faithful” black purse or pump. Floral prints, geometrical shapes and feminine silhouettes make for an amazing spring wardrobe.
