HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) — Texas has executed a Dallas-area man convicted in the robbery and slaying of a woman attacked while delivering food to his parents’ home 11 years ago.
Anthony Doyle was given a lethal injection Thursday for the 2003 death of Hyun Mi Cho (hYUN-mee-choh). The 37-year-old was beaten with a baseball bat, then robbed of her car, cellphone and credit cards.
Evidence showed Doyle ordered the doughnuts and breakfast tacos that Cho delivered. He shared the food with friends after stuffing Cho’s body in a neighbor’s trash can in an alley behind the home in Rowlett, east of Dallas.
The 29-year-old Doyle became the fourth Texas inmate put to death this year. Two of such Texas executions involved African Americans with both occurring within the last 8 days. Since 2013 Texas has also executed one African American woman .
The U.S. Supreme Court rejected a last-day appeal to block Doyle’s execution.
