The Balm In Gilead, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the health of the African Diaspora by building the capacity of faith communities to address life-threatening diseases, will host a Town Hall Community Action Forum on Hepatitis C. The special event, which features Grammy-Award winning gospel artist VaShawn Mitchell, will be held July 29, at 6 p.m. at the Sanctuary at Kingdom Square (9033 Central Ave., Capitol Heights, Md.).  Admission is free.

Recognizing hepatitis C as a national epidemic that affects up to 106,000 Marylanders, the Town Hall Community Action Forum on Hepatitis C will focus on educating the residents of Prince George’s County and surrounding areas about this devastating liver disease. The July 29th event also kicks off The Balm In Gilead’s national Healthy Churches 2020 campaign, during which the organization will also host town hall forums on hepatitis C in Chicago (August 14) and Jacksonville, Fla. (September 16).
