Van Hollen Announces $231,103 Grant for Montgomery College to Boost Academic Success

Washington, DC – Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen announced that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded a $231,103 grant to Montgomery College in Rockville to help first generation, low-income, and disabled students succeed.

Congressman Van Hollen said, “A college education leads to a lifetime of opportunity. This grant will help Montgomery College continue to provide students with a top-notch education and help every student given an acceptance letter succeed in receiving a diploma.”

The federal funds are awarded through the Student Support Services Programs, which aims to help higher education institutions provide opportunities for academic development and ensure successful completion of postsecondary education, with the goal of increasing college retention and graduation rates.

Montgomery College will use the funds for tutoring services, academic advising, financial aid assistance and workshops, and career exploration and counseling.
