Van Hollen Statement on 14th Anniversary of the 9/11 Attacks
Washington, DC – Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen released the following statement in observance of the 14th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001:
“Fourteen years ago, terrorists struck a horrible blow to our homeland. But instead of a scar, what has emerged is a nation more resilient to adversity and more dedicated to liberty than ever before.
“Today, we honor the heroism of the first responders who selflessly risked and gave their lives in New York, Pennsylvania, and at the Pentagon. We remember the victims and mourn with their families and friends, who do our nation a service by keeping the memory of those we lost alive. And we honor the patriots aboard Flight 93, who prevented what was already a horrific day from being even darker.
“That day terrorists sought to divide us, but America responded by coming together. Today, we must work with renewed urgency to build a more perfect union.”
