Wilson upset Anacostia, 59-45, to win its first D.C. Interscholastic Athletic Association (DCIAA)  title in 23 years on Feb. 24 at University of the District of Columbia.

For Wilson senior Tytilayo Green the setting was all too familiar. Wilson lost in the final for the last four years, and this year was a rematch against Anacostia, the defending league championship. Not only had Anacostia beaten Wilson in the 2015 championship game, they also handed Wilson its only loss of the regular season.

“Every team after that we thought was Anacostia,” said Green. “, we got them when it counted.”

Wilson built an early double-digit lead in the first half, and managed to contain Anacostia senior, DCIAA player of the year Asisha Greene. Anacostia wouldn’t come close to making a comeback for the remainder of the game.

Green scored a game-high 21 points, and senior Angelica Chacon finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds.

No. 4-ranked Wilson will play the winner of the Friendship Collegiate-H.D. Woodson matchup in the D.C. State Athletic Association quarterfinals on March 3.
