Tom Brady threw two touchdowns and LeGarrette Blount ran for a third as the New England Patriots made easy work of the Washington NFL team, 27-10, on Nov. 8 in Foxboro, Mass.  The loss drops Washington’s overall record to 3-5.

Brady didn’t dominate Washington in the typical fashion he has other teams this season. Instead, Washington’s defense made it tough on the Patriots’ offense and even intercepted Brady during the first half. Washington linebacker Keenan Robinson came up with the pick on the superstar quarterback, marking only the second time this season that Brady has been intercepted.

But despite playing solid defense, Washington wasn’t able to produce anything on offense and fell behind on the scoreboard. Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins made some nice passes but many of them were dropped by his receivers. Veteran receiver Pierre Garçon mishandled a wide open pass and tipped it into the hands of a Patriots defender’s hands for an interception. Tight end Derek Carrier also dropped what would’ve been a 50-yard gain at minimum.

After shooting themselves in the foot all game, Washington finally scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter on a pass from Cousins to tight end Jordan Reed. But by that time a chance of winning was far out of reach as New England held off for a 27-10 win.

Brady completed 26 of 39 for 299 yards; Blount ran for 129 yards on 29 carries.

Cousins was 22 of 40 for 217 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
