George Edward Keith was born Jan. 25, 1919, to Charlie and Daisy Moone Keith in Canton, Ga. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of March 2. He was the oldest of nin children. George lived in Prince George’s County since 1948.

George served in World War II and the Korean conflicts, rising to the rank of master sergeant. He retired in 1958 after serving 10 years of active duty in the Navy and 10 years active duty in the Marines. George then served in the Civil Service for 17 years, entered the private sector and retired from 3M Corporation.

In April 1943 he married Minnie Lemons of Smyrna, Ga. Of this union a son, Bradley Edward Keith, was born. The family lived in Seat Pleasant, Md., and later moved to Lanham, Md. His hobbies were photography, fishing, hunting, tennis, golf and working in the yard. Tennis and photography were his passions.

George was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Highland Park since 1963 and served many years on the board of directors.
