Cardin in Southern Maryland to Tour Important New Job Training Center, Innovative Effort to End Hunger
Senator also to host listening session with Calvert County officials
TOMORROW, Friday, August 4, U.S. Senator Ben Cardin will take part in three events in Calvert and Charles counties that highlight the many important connections between federal policies and local communities.
Friday, August 4 at 10:00 AM, Senator Cardin will tour the new College of Southern Maryland (CSM) Center for Trades and Energy Training, the first building on the Regional Hughesville Campus, which provides local residents direct access to specialized training in career fields with substantial growth potential like HVAC, electrical, plumbing and construction. The 30,000-square-foot center also will house the CSM Maryland Center for Environmental Training.

Friday, August 4 at 1:30 PM, Senator Cardin will learn more about the exceptional programs offered by End Hunger in Calvert County, a non-profit collaboration between Calvert County businesses and community leaders who have united to end hunger by hosting local food pantries, food drives and raising awareness within the county. The program, created in 2008, focusses on leading low-income individuals and families to self-sufficiency, offering job training programs, free tax services and community outreach to local residents. The senator also will tour the Culinary Arts Center, an onsite commercial kitchen that provides unique job training programs in culinary fields.
