BALTIMORE, MD (May 26, 2020) – More than 200 state and community leaders came together today to endorse Joe Biden for President.  The broad coalition, including US Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen, former US Senators Barbara Mikulski and Paul Sarbanes,  Democratic members of Maryland’s congressional delegation, the President of the Senate of Maryland and the Speaker of the House of Delegates, and Democratic County Executives, praised Joe Biden’s ability to restore America’s place in the world and guide Maryland’s working families through the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression.

“Biden has the experience and authenticity necessary to move the nation forward with our values intact. He’s a proven, reliable commodity at a time Marylanders need reassurance,” said State Delegate Erek Barron, former Biden Senate Counsel and leader of Biden for Maryland.  “It is gratifying to watch the Maryland Democratic Party come together like it has never before to elect Joe Biden as the next President of the United States,” said State Senator Jim Rosapepe, partner of Delegate Barron in Biden for Maryland leadership.

“Without question, this is the most consequential election of my lifetime. Our nation craves a leader with empathy and understanding, who can bring us together during these difficult times. Joe Biden is that leader. He honors the core American values of opportunity and equality. He will be the steady hand we need who trusts experts and science and puts the health and welfare of our country before himself,” said US Senator Ben Cardin. “For the sake of all Marylanders and the entire country, we cannot get this election wrong. I am supporting my friend and former colleague, Joe Biden, for President of the United States and I’m asking every Marylander to vote for Joe.”

“As our country faces deep uncertainty, one thing is clear — we need a steady hand and true leader to navigate the storm and chart our future course,” said Senator Chris Van Hollen. “Joe Biden has spent decades fighting to ensure every American gets a fair shot, and he has not once forgotten where he’s from and who he’s fighting for. I’ve worked closely with Joe for years, and I’m proud to stand with him now for Maryland’s primary on June 2nd and onward to the general election as we do everything in our power to elect him President of the United States.”

“I have been both a colleague and friend to Joe Biden for many years.  I have seen what he has done to make the world a better place and to make our country safer, with a stronger economy, and better access to healthcare,” said former Senator Barbara A. Mikulski.

Former US Senator Paul Sarbanes and Representative John Sarbanes stated, “Joe Biden’s unique combination of experience and empathy will ensure a White House agenda focused on lifting up America’s working families and reaching out to those communities in our country that too often have been neglected.  In this moment of great challenge for America and for the world, Joe’s leadership and diplomatic skills will allow him to bring community and government leaders together with the best minds in business, science and public health in order to chart a successful path forward.  Joe Biden is the fighter America needs.  As President, he will lead us through to the other side of this crisis and commit every ounce of his being to building a more just society for all Americans.”

“Middle class families and Main Street businesses are suffering under Donald Trump,” said Speaker Adrienne A. Jones. “We cannot afford to gamble with our children’s future – they need hope. I support Joe Biden for President because children and families of all races are the soul of this country and that’s who Joe has always stood up and fought for.”

Said former Lt. Governor Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, “Joe Biden feels your pain, my pain.  He will make sure we have health care and good jobs with benefits for all of us.  That includes retirement!”

Said Representative Anthony Brown, “Joe Biden is a proven leader on issues important to every American—healthcare, job creation, crisis management and national security, and domestic violence. At such a critical time in our nation’s history, Joe brings a wealth of experience, competence, and purpose to the job, as well as a profound understanding of the needs and aspirations of working men and women.”

“The 2020 election is no ordinary election,” said Representative Jamie Raskin.  “It is literally a matter of life and death, health and sickness, democracy or decline.  History has assigned Joe Biden the awesome responsibility of leading the American people through this crucible.  Joe can draw upon a profound love of our country and a lifetime of devoted public service to the American people.”

“No candidate is better-equipped to protect our national security, expand quality health care to every American, and help our economy rebound from COVID-19,” said Representative C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger.  “Joe Biden has outlined strategies that are rooted in science, reason, and experience.  His is the type of thoughtful leadership we need in times of crisis.”

“Joe Biden is the person we need in the White House to unite our country and lead us through this unprecedented public health and economic crisis,” said Representative David Trone. “Joe will fight for the American worker and use his experience to create real change in our country when it comes to mental health care, the opioid epidemic, and reforming our criminal justice system. It’s never been more important for Marylanders to get out on June 2nd and support Joe Biden for President.”

“This November, we will face a stark choice as to who can move our state and country through this recovery,” said Senate President Bill Ferguson.  “Joe Biden has the experience, compassion, and knowledge to make sure that we emerge ready to build a brighter future for all Marylanders.”

“Joe Biden’s heart for service and his compassion for those we serve are things we should all aspire to,” said Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks.  “His strong leadership and steadying presence is exactly what we need to heal the division in our country and ensure that we are well prepared for the challenges that lie ahead.”

“Now more than ever, America needs an experienced, thoughtful, and compassionate leader to unite us.  That person is Joe Biden,” Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski said.  “As our Nation battles a public health pandemic and an economic crisis, we need Joe’s lifetime of service, record of working for hard-working Americans, and his clear vision for our future.”

“Joe Biden’s experience as a US Senator and Vice President gives him the knowledge and steady leadership that our country needs as we recover from this devastating pandemic,” said Howard County Executive Calvin Ball.

“Now more than ever, our country is in dire need of Joe Biden’s leadership, empathy, and expertise to bring America out of this health and economic crisis and restore faith in our government’s ability to effectively address people’s problems,” said State Senator Shelly Hettleman.

Said State Delegate Dana Stein, “Joe Biden is the leader we need to get us through these challenging times.  He has unmatched experience, is well respected on the world stage, and most importantly, us a leader we can trust.”

“Joe Biden is a person of character and compassion who has the expertise, experience and relationships to be the effective leader we need now,” said State Delegate Anne Healey.  “He is smart, honest, and he cares about people and he knows better than most how to make government work for the common good.”

“Maryland needs Joe Biden in the White House to lead the way on economic recovery; decision-making informed by science and data; expanding access to health care; addressing climate change; rebuilding our infrastructure and all of the other challenges before us,” said State Delegate Marc Korman.

“Vice President Joe Biden is committed to public service and leaving our government more responsive and more compassionate than how he found it,” said State Delegate Jazz Lewis.  “From his work passing the Violence Against Women Act to his steadfast focus on helping working families, Joe Biden will be a great President of the United States.”

“I’ve endorsed Vice-President Biden because he has the capacity to unite our country and restore our standing in the world stage,” said Nancy Navarro, Montgomery County Councilwoman.

“As a leader in Prince George’s County, I know that Joe Biden as the Democratic Presidential nominee will best serve the interests of our County and residents,” said Prince George’s County Council Chairman Todd M. Turner, “I urge you to support Joe Biden on June 2nd.”

“I am proud to support Joe Biden and I am confident that he will unite Democrats to defeat Trump in November.” Hans Riemer, Montgomery County Councilmember, At-Large, and former National Youth Vote Director, Obama for America

I am supporting former Vice President Joe Biden for President because he is selfless, a thoughtful leader, an advocate for what is right and has a high moral compass.  I am confident that he has what it takes to lead our country back on the right path both nationally and internationally, ” stated Clerk of the Circuit Court for Prince George’s County Mahasin El-Amin, Esq.

“With a current occupant of the White House who encourages armed mobs, asserts that he is above the law, and fires inspectors general for investigating corruption, I look forward to the election of Joe Biden as President of the United States and a return to the Rule of Law,” said Clerk of the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County Scott Poyer.

Said Somerset Mayor Jeffrey Slavin, “In this troubled moment in US history, Joe Biden is best equipped to save our democracy and restore our standing in the world.”

Said former State Delegate Gene Counihan, “Joe Biden will provide leadership to the country and restore integrity to the White House.”

Joe Biden will restore decency and moral leadership to the Presidency,” said former State Delegate Tim Maloney.
