The Maryland Commission for Women will host a virtual 2020 Women’s Centennial Summit to celebrate women’s leadership and commemorate the 100th anniversary of the passing of the 19th amendment.
The Summit will take place on Aug. 26, 9 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. in partnership with the Maryland Commission on the Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Passage of the 19th Amendment of the Constitution of the United States.

Featured speakers include First Lady Yumi Hogan and Speaker of the House Adrienne Jones as well as two panels that will look at the history of women’s suffrage and women’s leadership.
The history panel, Legacy of Women’s Suffrage in the State of Maryland, will include Ida Jones, PhD, Morgan State University’s Archivist, and Kacy Rohn, MA, Montgomery County Planning Department’s Historical Preservation Specialist, moderated by Linda Singh, PhD, Chair of the Maryland Commission to Commemorate the Passage of the 19th Amendment.
The leadership panel, Women’s Leadership and the Intersectionality of Gender and Race in the Times of Crisis, features Dr. Leana Wen, Emergency Physician & Public Health Professor for George Washington University, Kelly Schulz, Maryland Department of Commerce Secretary, Alejandra Castillo, Esq, CEO of YMCA-USA, and Michelle Bernard, Esq, Journalist and Founder & CEO, the Bernard Center for Women, Politics and Public Policy. The panel will be moderated by WJZ-tv journalist and news anchor Denise Koch, MA.
