Comptroller Franchot to Tour Charles County Elementary School and Technology Business

WHAT:           In his role as a member of the Board of Public Works, which oversees the state’s public school construction program, Comptroller Franchot will tour Dr. James Craik Elementary School in Pomfret today. Principal Debbie Calvert will lead the tour of the 41-year-old school, which has an open-space floor plan. Since 2008, the school has received more than $1.8 million in state funding for improvements to the roof, lighting, an access control system, carpeting and floor covering replacement.

The Comptroller then will visit Zekiah Technologies in La Plata to present a proclamation to Brianna Bowling, president of the family-operated company with a focus on software engineering, application development and information technology integration. Bowling started the company in the basement of her home in La Plata in 1998.
