WASHINGTON (AP) — District of Columbia police say a teenage male was fatally stabbed at the same Metro subway station where a 15-year-old boy was fatally shot last month as he waited on a platform for a train.

Metro trains arrive in the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro station Tuesday, March 15, 2016 in Washington. The head of the rail system that serves the nation's capital and its Virginia and Maryland suburbs says the system will shut down for a full day Wednesday after a fire near one of the system's tunnels. Police spokeswoman Aquita Brown said the stabbing occurred about 11 a.m. Monday at the Deanwood Metro station.

Brown says the unconscious youth was taken to a hospital, where he died. Police identified him as 15-year-old John Rufus Evans III of northeast Washington.

Police released surveillance photos on Monday afternoon of a person of interest. Police say the person is a male believed to be between 14 and 20 years old who wears braces.

A 17-year-old has been charged as an adult with second-degree murder in last month’s fatal shooting.
