ANNAPOLIS, MDโGovernor Wes Moore today announced the appointment of Mollie Byron as secretary of appointments. Byron will assume the post as secretary on April 4.ย
โSince Day One, Tisha Edwards has been the force behind our efforts to build an administration that moves with excellence and reflects the communities we represent. The magnitude of her contributions to Maryland cannot be overstated,โ said Gov. Moore. โTisha has laid an unbreakable foundation, and I am confident that Mollie Byron will build on that foundation with distinction. Together, we will continue honoring our pledge to leave no one behind.โ
Secretary Tisha Edwards will depart the Moore-Miller Administration for a new role in the private sector after making historic strides in honoring the administrationโs commitment to create a government that reflects the State of Maryland. Byronโs deep experience in legislative affairs and stakeholder engagement contributed to previous leadership roles in Prince Georgeโs County government and as director of federal and state government relations for The Nature Conservancy Maryland and DC. She also served in various positions in the OโMalley-Brown Administration.
Byron earned her juris doctorate from the University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law and her bachelorโs degree in human services and sociology from The George Washington University.ย
