The Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall (JBM-HH) Gospel Service hosted its Annual Black History Month (BHM) Religious Service at the Memorial Chapel, Fort Myer, Va.

Using the national theme, Black Women in American Culture and History, the service centered around the presentation of the Keeper of the Community Award to honorees who have made their individual contributions to the community. Honorees included: Gen. (Ret.) William โ€œKipโ€ and Mrs. Joyce Ward; Brig. Gen. (Ret.) Barbaranette Bolden and Navy Capt. Angela Cyrus. The guest speaker, Ch (Col) Clarke McGriff gave a very stirring and inspirational message that was coupled with some good old gospel singing by the Praise and Worship Team and the Oxon Hill High School Choir. Words of Encouragement were given by Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Human Resource Issues. After the benediction, a fellowship dinner was enjoyed by all, catered by RX Catering, Cheron Burns, president. Ch (Maj) David Santiago Cruz is the pastor; Brother Edgar Brookins was the planning committee chair.
