Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) honored Bowie State freshman Cassandra Clayborne, sophomore Adria Lewis and junior Amanda Ray as Player of the Week, Defensive Player of the Week and Offensive Player of the Week respectively by the league’s sports information directors, as announced on April 2.

Clayborne hit 4-for-4 at bat for four runs in a sweep over Lincoln University to close out March. She currently leads the team with a .393 batting average, runs scored (26), hits (24) and stolen bases (11). Lewis ranked third on the team in batting average (.500) during Bowie State’s undefeated (4-0) week and recorded four putouts and seven assists.

Ray, the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week back on March 12th, averaged a sizzling .778 at the plate over four games to end March, going 7-for-9, including two doubles and eight RBI.

The Lady Bulldogs swept Shaw University 10-2 and 13-5 (March 30th) and Lincoln University of Pennsylvania 4-2 and 15-0 (March 31st), improving the Bowie State conference record to 9-1.

Bowie State fell to Morgan State on April 1 but looks to bounce back with a series against Washington Adventist on April 6.
