On Friday, July 27th, Adams Morgan will celebrate the completion of the 18th Street Streetscape project that remade the commercial corridor between Columbia Road NW and Florida Ave NW. DC Mayor Vincent C. Gray along with Ward 1 Councilmember Jim Graham will join business owners and residents to commemorate the largest public investment ever made in Adams Morgan. This ambitious project is one of the most complex and all-inclusive streetscapes accomplished in a dense commercial area.

The visible improvements in Adams Morgan are wider aggregate sidewalks, safer crosswalks with bulb-outs, new granite curbs, newly planted trees, bike racks, and brighter streetlights. Critical infrastructure upgrades were made underground as well, including all new electrical, high-pressure gas and water services, and storm sewers. Close coordination between DDOT, the contractor, and the business community ensured that the project was completed in a timely fashion.

The end result is a commercial area integrated with the residential area that is safer and more pedestrian-friendly. Overall, Adams Morgan is now a better place to live, visit, eat, shop, play and to do business.
