Thousands of Washington, D.C. residents now have greater health care access thanks to a new program from Amerigroup D.C. LiveHealth Online will provide its members with access to doctors, therapists, psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals through website or mobile app visits at no charge. They will be able to take advantage of this benefit and talk to a board-certified medical doctor without an appointment or long wait times.
This program will serve nearly 50,000 D.C. residents through the District of Columbia Healthy Families and D.C. Healthcare Alliance programs.

Through their smartphones, tablets or desktop computers members can get advice and treatment options and a prescription if needed. After each LiveHealth Online session, a summary of the visit is created and can be forwarded by the patient to their primary care doctor.
Amerigroup D.C. President and CEOLinda Elam, PhD, MPH, weighed in on the announcement, by expressing the importance of the accessibility and affordability offered to families through LiveHealth Online.
“By making LiveHealth Online available at no cost we are simplifying the healthcare experience while empowering the individuals and families we have the privilege of serving to improve their health outcomes. This innovation expands access to doctors and specialists by removing barriers that may have prevented our consumers from accessing the care they need, when they need it.”
