Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas has been charged with felony gun possession, the Washington Post reported on Jan 14.

The 28-year-old native of Los Angeles, Calif. was counted for carrying a pistol without a liscence outside of his home or business, a charge that carries a maximum 5-year prison sentence. The U.S Attorney’s office for the District of Columbia hasn’t responded yet for confirmation.?Arenas was suspended indefinitely without pay by NBA commissioner David Stern last week after making light of the situation during the federal investigation process. The three-time All-Star also told the media he didnt believe he did anything wrong after already admitting to taking unloaded guns out of his locker at the Verizon Center in D.C. on Dec. 21. He claimed it was a “misguided effort to play a joke” on teammate Javaris Crittenton stemming from an argument over a card game during a team flight the previous night.?

The Washington Post reported that Crittenton’s apartment was searched by federal authorites on Jan. 14 for a semiautomatic handgun in connection with the incident on Thursday afternoon. The 22-year-old Atlanta, Ga. native may face federal charges as the Post reported allegations that he branished his own pistol in the locker room on Dec. 21.
