Morgan State men’s basketball coach Todd Bozeman coached his first game since being reinstated from a two-week suspension but the Bears still lost, 62-61, to the North Carolina A&T Aggies on Jan. 21 at Morgan’s Hill Field House in Baltimore, Md.
The Aggies earned the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) win after junior forward Adrian Powell scored a layup with 15 seconds left in the game over Morgan State.
The Bears had led the game 48-40 with 10:09 left in the game, but three straight turnovers by Morgan allowed NCA&T to spark a 13-4 scoring run to get back in the game. Powell led the Aggies with 11 points, while senior guard Marc Hill added 11 points.
MSU junior forward DeWayne Jackson scored a game-high 20 points along with seven rebounds; redshirt junior center Ian Chiles was the only other Bear to score double digits with 13 points, seven rebounds and four blocks.
According to MSU Media Relations, this marked the first time A&T beat MSU at Field House since February 20, 2006 when A&T pulled out a 56-52 victory.
North Carolina A&T advanced to a 8-12 overall record, 3-2 vs. MEAC; Morgan State dropped to 4-12 overall, 2-3 against MEAC opponents. The Bears will see more home action on Jan. 23 when they host North Carolina Central at Hill Field House.
