The whole community of Baltimore County Public Schools was filled with anticipation of Team BCPS Day, Jan. 15, which was instituted in 2014.

Both the Greenwood administration building and the dome of the county’s historic courthouse were glowing blue in honor of Team BCPS Day,and remained so every evening through the end of the week.

Tweets and photos began pouring in before the day – students, schools, and business and academic partners showed their support of BCPS with signs, sayings, sartorial statements in blue, and all-around celebration of Baltimore County’s students and schools.

The excitement is meant to be caught – check out the video on the BCPS Web page at http://www.bcps.org/bcpstv/video.html?Program=SPC&VideoID=403. Or take a look at the pride of Grade 4 students at Deer Park Elementary School as they get ready for the big day (see attached).  Or check out the props from the Community College of Baltimore County on Twitter (https://twitter.com/CCBCMD).

BCPS Superintendent Dr. S. Dallas Dance asked everyone to wear blue to show school spirit. “I know I’m getting excited. It’s a great way to support our schools, our children, and the amazing achievements they are making every day.”

Those who did were encouraged to post photo on Twitter (@BaltCoPS, #BCPSblue), Instagram (teambcps), or Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/BaltCoPS) or sent to communications@bcps.org.

The best images received on Jan. 15 are featured on the BCPS website (www.bcps.org), and highlighted in the following categories: youngest (age included); oldest (age included); most distant (location included); most creative; most spirited; most representative of Team BCPS ideals; best external stakeholder/community submission; and largest assembly (count included).

Team BCPS Day is part of the ongoing campaign that includes a variety of components and activities, including signs, public service announcements and a Team BCPS Web page (www.bcps.org/teamBCPS)  focused on how team members can be involved.
