Five BCPS students were honored as part of the 2022 Maryland Public High School Dance Showcase.

The following students were named All-State Dancers:

  • Mackenna Bonner, Hereford High School
  • Jade Mathis, Hereford High School
  • Isla Naraval, Hereford High School
  • Ava Piatt, Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts

Another Patapsco High student, Jalen Johnson, was named an Honorable Mention Dancer.

Only 25 Maryland students received the All-State Award for 2022, and only four received Honorable Mention.

All-State dancers generally participate in a daylong showcase event, which includes master classes, rehearsals, and a performance. It is usually held in January at Goucher College, but was canceled for 2022 due to the COVID-19 surge. Auditions, for the first time ever, were held virtually.
